The Campground

Thousand Trails Three Flags is a well-laid-out campground with a large main loop and multiple streets branching off into pull-through sites. The park features a mix of grass and dirt or sand sites, each with a picnic table and full hookups.

Check-in was quick and easy. Pull in, head to the office, provide your information, and you’ll be on your way to your site within minutes.

The layout is simple and easy to navigate, with paved roads throughout the entire campground. As you make your way through the park, you’ll notice trees surrounding the property, giving it a more natural feel.

Our site was mostly grass with some dirt and sand, and while it was close to level, there was no patio slab. All sites are pull-through, so getting in and out front-to-back is not an issue, but spacing side-to-side can feel tight. In some cases, you may only be a few steps away from your neighbor.

  • Level: Close to level

  • Spacing: Tight side-to-side

  • Access: Can be tight when full, but manageable

Getting into your site can depend heavily on how full the park is. During our first stay, the campground was about half full, which made it easy. On our second stay, it was nearly full, which made maneuvering more challenging with vehicles and RVs around. Taking your time and having a spotter helps.

The overall vibe stayed quiet and relaxed during both visits, even when the campground was busy.

Amenities include:

  • Bike trails

  • Hiking trails

  • Swimming pool

  • Mini golf

  • Horseshoes

  • Pickleball

  • Shuffleboard

  • Basketball

  • Laundry room

  • Restroom and shower facilities

We used the hiking trails, swimming pool, and laundry facilities during our stay, and all were well maintained. The pool, in particular, stayed very clean even over busy holiday weekends.

One standout moment was the Memorial Day flag ceremony. The campground hosted a service with music and recognition for veterans, and a large portion of the campground came together to take part. It was a really well-done and meaningful event.

One thing worth noting: spacing can feel tight and maneuvering into sites may require extra patience when the campground is full.

Local Eats

Thai Ruby located at Lake Sumter in The Villages

The Villages offers a wide variety of great dining options just minutes from the campground.

Some of our favorites included:

  • Lighthouse Point Bar and Grill for seafood and American dishes

  • Cody’s Original Roadhouse for steaks, seafood, and southern BBQ

  • Fiesta Grande for Mexican cuisine

  • Amerikanos Grille for Mediterranean and American options

  • Thai Ruby for Thai food

  • Russell Stover Chocolates for discounted sweets and ice cream

Every place we tried delivered great food, and we would go back to all of them. Cody’s Original Roadhouse stood out enough that we visited twice.

The Drive & Area

Getting to the campground is simple and stress-free. Located just off I-75, you take US-44 directly to the entrance.

There is a designated area near the entrance where you can park your RV while checking in, which makes arrival easy.

  • Roads: Smooth and well-maintained

  • Access: Easy, no difficult turns or low clearances

  • Traffic: Minimal concerns

The surrounding area of Wildwood is fairly limited, with mostly strip malls and a few shopping spots. However, The Villages is only a short drive away and offers plenty of entertainment, dining, and activities.

One nearby highlight is the Russell Stover location, where you can find discounted chocolates and enjoy ice cream. It is a fun and unique stop worth checking out.

Connectivity

We tested connectivity using T-Mobile and Starlink during our stay.

  • Cell Signal: Strong

  • Data Speeds: Reliable, though not the fastest

  • Starlink: Worked well with minor tree obstruction

This campground is a solid option for anyone needing reliable internet for work or streaming.

Would We Stay Again?

Yes, we would absolutely stay here again. We enjoy both the campground itself and its proximity to The Villages, which offers plenty to do during longer stays.
